Two elven brothers embark on a quest to bring their father back for one day.” I feel like this is a really cool idea for a movie and I loved that they made it fantasy and animated.

5th video I’ve done and I am so proud of myself. This is a great movie and I definitely recommend watching the whole thing!

Characters, Cast, Crew

This movie was released on the 6th of March and only recently was released on Disney+. The director behind this movie Dan Scanlon also took part in various other big animated movies such as; Monsters University, Coco, Incredibles 2 and Brave

Tom Holland lends his voice to the character Ian Lightfoot who only always wanted to meet his dad who dies when he was young. Tom Holland has been a very noticeable actor in the last few years when he scored the role of Peter Parker in Spiderman. Knowing who Tom Holland is now, I realised he is from one of my favourite movies ‘The Impossible’ based on the Thailand tsunami, who additional also had his brothers in.

Barley Lightfoot is voiced by Chris Pratt, who is one of my favourite actors since forever. He has also given his voice to some memorable animated movies including The Lego movie 1 & 2. He also recently just got engaged to Katherine Schwarzenegger though had previously been married to Anna Faris, who he shares a son with.

There were some other really great actors and actresses who gave their voices to this movie, some of them include Octavia Spencer (The Manticore), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Laurel Lightfoot) and Mel Rodriguez (Colt Bronco)

Some really cool facts I liked from the movie

  • Near the end when Ian and Barley fly off with the van using magic is similar to the ending of Back to the Future (1985)
  • Director Dan Scanlon voices the fitness instructor on Laurel’s workout video.
  • In Barley’s van there is a sign that says, “You shall not pass” a reference to Lord of the Rings.
  • Pixar’s 22nd feature film
  • In one scene Barley holds Ian the same way Starlord holds Spider-Man the first time they met in Avengers Infinity War.

Easter Eggs and Connections To Other Movies

  • Back To The Future

Near the end when Ian and Barley fly off with the van is similar to the ending of Back to the Future

  • The Smurfs

The houses are giant mushrooms.

  • Aladdin

The Lamp of the Genie (Robin Williams) is seen on the pawn shop scene

  • Toy Story

The world has a Pizza chain called “Pizza Realm”. Even the truck is here at the tollbooth shot.

  • Ratatouille

A rat-like creature, resembling Remy, with his chef hat, is seen cooking at Manticore’s Tavern.

Something Extra

This is now one of my favourite movies, it has so much of everything I love. This movie is adventurous, funny and has a great bromance. I definitely recommend you watch this movie and it’s assessible on Disney+

I thought the voices behind the main characters were perfect and think they should do more together. The idea behind this movie was also great, I’m not usually a fantasy person even if it is animated but it’s just to good to not watch at least 5 times
